Very Disappointed – I’m very disappointed in this product. StarTech is still selling this product but has discontinued support for it. This device doesn’t care what operating system you’re using and uses standard data transmission, but StarTech hasn’t added support for this device to it’s newer applications despite having support for nearly identical devices that don’t have POE. I was able to find an application that works in Windows 10 and has support for this device and many other devices that use the same data standard. So now, on top of paying for this device, I’m also paying for an application to use this device. My application requires the use of POE, so this was really the only option. Again, this device doesn’t care what operating system you’re using, but StarTech doesn’t support this device on Windows 10.

Not for modern operating systems. – Not compatible with Windows 7 or any 64 bit operating system. It could be and should be, but they make custom com port drivers and decided not to make compatible drivers.

this is a perfect remote data capture device (COM port on the network – If you are developing internet of things apps, this is a perfect remote data capture device (COM port on the network!)

Doesn’t work with Windows 8 or 10 – Just a heads up, this is a legacy product that does not work with Windows 8 or 10. The newer model NETRS2321P (very similar p/n) officially supports up to Windows 10.

Works nicely for connecting a weather station’s RS-232 – Works nicely for connecting a weather station’s RS-232, through to a network. All PoE, all reliable. Very rudimentary GUI, but I don’t think a pretty UI could help make it work any better.
