Works without issues – I had this for more than a month now, and I haven’t had any problems. When I connected for the first time, I didn’t even have to call Verizon to activate it, it was pretty much plug ang play. Very happy so far.

Excellent Verizon Fios dual-band router – I purchased this “Amazon renewed” router to replace an older Mi424wr single-band 802.11n Verizon Fios router. First things first; the router worked fine out-of-the-box, and aside from a very minor scuff mark is the same as new. Setup in my case was as simple as connecting the coax Fios signal and turning the router on. With our Verizon Fios connection, the router is used for internet only; the TV signal is handled seperately, which I believe may be different in other cases. The router is located in the front middle level of a 3 story house. In combination with a Netgear extender, it delivers an 802.11ac wireless signal throughout the house that is very close to a fully wired signal. Our Verizon internet service is 75/75 Mbps, and we are getting around 80/80 wireless. For the purpose of this review I just ran a speed test in the back upper-level of the house (at 4:00AM) and got 83/86Mbps wireless 802.11ac. I’m hopeful when we get the Verizon gigabit service ( in about a month) the wireless performance will be comparably outstanding.

We were sold on Fios’ great monthly price, no contract and the promise of a huge pickup in speed. What neither the salesman nor the installer warned us about was that Fios would overwhelm our old Apple Air Port router and we would need a new one. Once we figured this out, a Verizon representative wanted to sell me a new Verizon-approved router for $300 or rent me one for $15 a month. As I was texting with him, I checked to see what was available on Amazon and this router popped up for $90. The reviews convinced me this was the way to go and they were right.
