QNAP Products are simple, no frills, and that’s what you want. – It’s like when you ride passenger on a car, if the trip is uneventful, the driver is an excellent driver.

Best Bang For Your Buck!! – I currently run 3 of these in my Home Lab and I’m planning to buy a 4th. The TS-1232PXU-RP-4G gives you the best bang for your buck if you need a ton of storage. I have a total of about 400TB of useable space with all 3 units running a RAID 6. Not only are you getting 12 drive bays but you’re also getting dual 10GB SFP’s and redundant power supplies. I’ve researched most of the options out there and this is unheard of at this price point. Definitely the best value out there. As long as you’re just looking for storage and not running a ton of CPU-intensive applications this works great.

Inaccurate Website Description – The item is listed as having two 2.5Gbe ports and two 10Gbe ports but the 10GB ports are not 10Gbe, they are 10GB SPF ports. which makes this unable to run at 10GB unless I purchase SPF modules.

Great machine – I loaded (3) drive bays with 6TB drives and set them up as a RAID 5. I’m using this primarily as a server to store my movie collection (DVD, Blu-ray, 4k Blu-rays). I connected this directly to my computer via the 10Gbps port (You’ll need to set both the QNAP and computer 10Gbps ports to a static IP). I can’t stress using the 10Gbps connection enough. Although my current hardware is creating a bottleneck, I was able to get an extra 160MB/s in transfer speed (right now at 250 MB/s in Windows 10 and 230MB/s in Linux Ubuntu).

Software isn’t always the best – NAS itself works great, but the setup software can leave a bit to be desired. Has been running 24×7 for the better part of a year without issue.
