One hell of a switch for a home network – I picked up the NETGEAR GS724TP-200NAS 24-Port Gigabit Ethernet Smart Managed Pro Switch after trying to pick up a used Dell 5324 from a vendor here on Amazon. Needless to say the used Dell didn’t work out (because it was DOA) so I picked this switch up and am glad I did. I updated my home network with a new modem (Motorola MB8600) and a new router (Asus RT-AC5300) but needed a switch to bring it all together. I was looking for a smart switch (which this is) that would give me the ability to do ling aggregation, provide POE and VLAN. Well not only does this provide me with those options, it has a whole lot more for me to play with. One of my most favorite things about it is that the gui is very user friendly and allows you to label every port as well as provide drop down menus for almost anything you want to change. As a home user this switch is a bit of overkill right now, but I know that I have room to grow and set things up the way I want. This model does have fans and while they are not as loud as the stock ones that come with the Dell 5324, they are not as quiet as the replacement ones I purchased for it either. I know it has a built in fan curve because they do ramp up during the day when my home office heats up but I have not seen anything that would allow a user to control or change it. As of now I don’t have any complaints, the setup, once I got some help from netgear customer support went very quickly and smoothly. If you are not sure if this switch is for you and you have questions I would recommend calling netgear as that is what I did and they were super helpful. I have heard some horror stories about netgear customer support and can honestly say that my experience with them has been outstanding. They answered all of my questions and when I couldn’t log into the switch they patiently walked me through how to do it (if your home network is not using .1 in the third octet then you will not be able to access it). Vince, the customer service agent spent more than an hour on the phone with me after my issue was addressed just to help me with the setup of my LAG going to my server, router and modem. In my opinion, if you are an advanced home networker in need of a switch, this is the one you want because of its options, flexibility and the outstanding customer support that comes with it.

Excellent product – It’s a little more expensive than other brands, but as we are expanding we went with the same brand that we have had the most success with in the past. This was an add on to a larger NETGEAR switch that we have had for several years which is still working great.

I should have chosen something else. – I should have given up on POE++ and chosen something simpler.

Outdated tech, need to bring an updated model. Don’t purchase this in 2022. Returned – As much as this is the only choice at this price range that gives the option for 2.5G,5G & 10G in the same router, there is no other router from any other brand that gives this flexibility in a single router.

Easy to setup and use – I like that it is small and packs a punch with all port providing POE. So far nothing to not like

Easy set up; easy management. Great features! Lots of power (PoE). – Works out of the box; no configuration necessary.

Fixed my networking issues! – Not a network expert by any means, but i prefer everything be hard wired. My setup had multiple switches but they were crashing because of all the traffic. Got this and instantly noticed the stability that a good managed system brings.

Subscription Requirement Removed – Still total crap software though (GS110TPP v1) – The model I bought is a GS110TPP v1. When it arrived, it still had the horrible firmware that forced you to create an account with Netgear to manage it. They have since patched that out in the latest firmware and you can login without issue now. The login page still tries to drive you to the Netgear account though.
