8 reviews for Meraki Go Router Firewall | Cloud Managed
Rated 3 out of 5

A great router if you don’t want to configure hardly anything – I’ve managed the “normal” Meraki gear for several years and have been on the lookout for a cost-affordable solution for home for awhile, as I didn’t want to get stuck into paying for ongoing licensing. When Meraki released their Meraki Go line it piqued my interest as on the surface the hardware all looked nearly identical to their normal gear, with what I assumed was a different firmware.

Can’t configure it to allow site-to-site VPN traffic – It’s a solid security firewall, very stable connections. Recovers well from power or service interruptions. Does need an API for WiFi, but you don’t have to fork over cash for a Meraki Go API. It will allow a VPN connection but WILL ACTIVELY BLOCK VPN TRAFFIC. If you just need the vpn to connect to your company’s cloud apps, this will work. If you need to interact with network drives, file servers, or other remote devices via vpn, this will not work. And there’s no way to effectively get around it. Would have been a 5 star, but no place in the reviews does it explicitly state that.

Functional Cloud Managed Firewall – First thing people should know to have wireless from this device you NEED TO BUY AN ACCESS POINT AND ATTACH IT TO THIS. IT IS NOT A PRECANNED ALL IN ONE WIRELESS ROUTER.

Business class security gateway router that’s easy to set up – great for small businesses – Great router for those who want business-class security, reporting and features usually found in much more expensive routers. I liked how easy it was to set up the router and then the wireless access point using the mobile app. I chose the Meraki Go product as an alternative to the big name options for home use (Netgear, TP-Link, etc) because I wanted the piece-of-mind security that the gateway router has to offer.
