Updated: *Many* Improvements – Update 3/15/21: It’s almost like the GL.iNet folks read my review! Happy to report that I saw a price drop so decided that it was worth taking another swing at this device. The new firmware supports most of the functions I felt were missing including a custom display field, switching WiFi information on and off, and allowing the installation of Luci to get the full benefit of OpenWRT. The only thing that is still in the queue are allowing a selection of power up behavior when connected to external power (which it looks like is in the works). The only other thing I haven’t had a good shot at testing is whether or not the “random power up” is still happening. Overall I’m happy though. I wish the EC-25 was a faster card, but faster cards are way more expensive (like $500!).

Disappointing WIFI speeds – Lots of great features but the wifi speeds are quite disappointing.

Nice little hotspot – I have many GL-inet travel routers for various purposes. They all have an easy to use user interface for the novice users, but the UI for OpenWRT is also accessible for power users which is key for me. My only gripe is the OpenWRT branches are pretty far behind the current version of OpenWRT. My Linksys WRT3200ACM is usually a full version ahead of GL-inet products. This provides no less functionality, however, provides less security due to infrequent/late updates. I could build the code myself but I don’t have time for that. If anyone is curious, this does work on T-Mobile and very well. I have down speeds clocked in excess of 20 Mbps in a rural area with the nearest tower a mile or two away. The only problem I noticed with this unit are that the battery doesn’t last long enough. Even on idle with no data traveling through it, the battery drain is substantial. Perhaps more power management options are required in future updates. Thanks for reading!

Best LTE router I have ever owned – WORKS ON AT&T!!!!! – I have had a mobile hotspot router in some form or another since the mid 00’s. As a mobile professional, phone provided hotspot just doesn’t cut it for me. So, instead of buying another carrier device this time around, I decided to give the mudi a try. This is by far the best cellular router that I have ever owned, and I will be returning my MR1100!

Super easy setup and reliable connection – We got this device for an office to avoid internet cabling installation.
