Nice little box that does what it’s supposed to! – Great for hassle free implementation of the Domotz platform. Just connect to the network and it does the rest! Very compact so you can tuck it out of the way. Only negatives are that the power cable is not super secure where it plugs in to the unit. Also the included network cable is very short.

Was a great product, buyer beware! – Although you are buying hardware, it is 100% driven by their web portal. And with any software product it can change from time to time. Recently after I purchased a few of these devices they changed the model to force you to buy in to their $20 per month model. Instantly forcing me to go from $6 per device to $20 per device each month. This seems very much like deceptive business practices if you ask me. What does that mean exactly? See the attached images. It shows that if you’re on anything other than the top tier plan that you will use up your access to the device in just minutes. For the example shown I had only accessed my device for about 1 minute. That used 3% of the monthly allocated usage. This didn’t exist just a few days ago. They recently baked it in. Buyer beware – if your expectation is to use this device to supply MSP/MSSP services to third parties (something they advertise the product as being useful for) then you can expect to pay the highest prices in the industry for that purpose. Other items of important note. They charge per user. If you want to have more than one person use this service it’s an additional $25 per person. The product works pretty well if all you’re concerned about is verifying uptime, or monitoring for new devices on the network. If you’re looking for access to your devices only the tried and true methods work reliably (SSH,RDP). Web portals such as those used for appliances, firewalls, etc fail constantly and do not always work in general. Most everything will in fact connect but due to coding practices of the various vendors you’re connecting to this will just fail to work. For example, if you connect to a device that has mixed HTTP/HTTPS content this device will fail to function.

Simple, works, great for small business network environments – I have purchased 4 of these and will purchase a 5th. The box itself is simple, has all adapters for foreign plugs, and works. Do your research, you still need to pay $19 per site (box) per month to use the software. I won’t say much about the software since this review is about the Domotz box itself other than it is extremely capable and ever-evolving. The boxes are used for monitoring and documenting over 400 active devices, and 600 total, topologies, etc.

Nice box, support is solid – I ended up returning the box as client did not want to spend the monies to have it implemented correctly and Domotz was very understanding and returned the price of the unit along with the first month’s $20 with no hassle, I like a vendor whom will stand behind their product. I have one of their Fing Boxes on my home network and really like the unit, especially the bandwidth monitoring of my ISP along with getting alerts when hosts are up/down.

Responsive Customer Service – Just ordered one of these boxes to test for potential use with some Small Medium Business clients I service. Was really excited to get the box and start testing. Unfortunately, the Power Supply it was DOA. I tried a couple of different things and was not able to get it to power on after plugging it in. I sent a support email and had a call back within 10 minutes. Just as I discovered that the problem is a DOA power adapter. The tech on the phone responded that they would be more than happy to send out a new Power adapter. Currently setting the unit up using a temporary USB charging port from a PC. Will write more after I have a few days working with the unit. But for now – 5 STARS for the prompt support response! Great job guys.

This affordable product is a network lie-detector! – I first installed Domotz network monitoring a year ago for myself and family. It demystifies the reasons ‘why’ your network may not be working well (or working well). After getting the evidence needed to hold a fact-based conversation with my ISP (or my mom’s or daughter’s ISP), I started telling friends and customers about it. It tells me when component in my home are no longer connected to the network, it tells me when the internet connected speed drops below a defined threshold (for me its the speed my ISP tells me I should receive less 10%), it tells me when a new device appears on my network, it gives me a graph and report about all of these components. I can see when the ISP take my service out during the night and early morning hours.

It’s going in my instals – Has become a mainstay of all my commercial networks. Integrates with other devices to bring things in to one interface. Mostly use it for alerts and it does a great job at that. Easy to check history on a problematic ISP or device.
