– Compré este disco el año pasado y estuvo funcionando bien hasta el pasado fin de semana en que decidió dejar de conectarse a mi red de un día a otro. Hasta este momento nadie en soporte ha sido capaz de ayudarme con mi caso, sólo me indican páginas de ayuda en su sitio para intentar resolver el problema (no se ha solucionado) y nadie puede decirme por qué la luz led sigue parpadeando en azul. Llevo una semana sin poder acceder a mis archivos de trabajo y eso ya es un problema grave. No hay manera de conectarse al disco desde el Dashboard, ni desde el sitio de WD y mucho menos desde mi computadora. ¿Extraer los archivos? Al parecer la única manera de rescatar los archivos es enviándolo a Estados Unidos de lo contrario la garantía ya no se hace válida. ¿Soporte en México? No lo encuentro, y ahora sólo tengo un pisapapeles carísimo.

The devil is in the settings – I have to admit I had some serious reservations purchasing this NAS based upon the sheer number of bad reviews. I read through them and there seemed to be a common thread to several of the problems.

Very difficult to get it to work the way I want – I am updating this review and raising rating because I finally figured out how to get it to work the way I want. I still think the product is not plug-and-play, but I doubt any network device like this is plug-and-play. I do not have any experience with other brands of similar devices, but I doubt the setup is any more user-friendly than this one. The people on the help line are truly helpful. I just wish I did need to use the help line at all – I am a guy after all and don’t like asking for directions.

– Buy if you have a Gigabit Ethernet or the data transfer speed will kill you. I have a Dlink 2750u router which doesn’t have gigabit ethernet. So the normal transfer wired transfer speed is 10MB/s and wirless is 5MB/s.
