Wifi and ethernet in 1 compact space – This is a fantastic little piece of tech, especially in a unifi deployment. The ability to have a gigabit switch and ap in one small wall mounted unit is ideal in my living room setup. Hotel rooms is what these are designed for but in my personal setup at home I can’t think of a better option. I have the IW-HD setup behind my media console where the ethernet feed is, this allows me to hard wire my tv, ps4 and nvr along with another free port for anything in the future. Wifi connectivity is great, I also use an nano-HD in my second floor ceiling so between the 2 I have complete wifi coverage of my 3600sqft home, even enough signal in my detached garage to connect smart garage door openers! With gigspeed internet I am getting over 500mbps download sitting in my living room. If you have a unifi system in your home, these are a great option for your media center.

High performing AP when configured properly – Mounted this behind a television media console and it provided fantastic signal. The additional ports were extremely handy for the items in my console and being able to assign separate vlan/switch port profiles to each individual port. Make sure to properly set the radio strength and channel width plus channel to get the best performance. It looks fantastic and I was a bit sad that I had to hide it behind my furniture as it looks extremely sleek.

Powered by POE, did not work connected by ethernet cable to router – In reviews and videos it said you could just “plug and play” into an ethernet port. Even plugged in directly to my router using CAT 5E or CAT 6 it would not power up. Using a separate POE adapter from a different Ubiquiti device I was able to get it up and running. Worked poorly from the beginning. Having to use a separate POE adapter defeats the purpose of being able to just mount on your wall at an ethernet jack. Very disappointed.

Easy install, better WiFi. – I installed this into a preexisting ethernet jack in our family room (to attic PoE switch) to improve the overall 5G signal in our lower level. Physical installation took 5-10 minutes and would have been shorter if I had found my Torx screwdriver sooner. Functional setup was about 5 minutes via the Ubiquiti phone app and it linked to my preexisting Ubiquiti AC-Pro unit upstairs without issues.
