– Die Zuverlässigkeit hinsichtlich Einstellung der RAID-Modi ist ausgezeichnet. ABER: die kleinen Lüfter sind sehr laut und drehen mit übermäßig hoher Geschwindigkeit. Verwendet werden ausschließlich SSD, die in anderen Gehäusen ohne jede Lüftung anstandslos ihren Dienst verrichten. Deshalb kann keine Empfehlung für eine Nutzung in unmittelbarer Nähe des Arbeitsplatzes ausgesprochen werden.

Great affordable RAID enclosure! – Bottom line: I recommend the TR-004 with drives I mention below (or others on its list of supported drives) in one of the 3 modes: Individual, RAID 1/0, or RAID 5. Please keep in mind that RAID is not a substitute for a good backup. You should always keep a backup copy of anything important on a separate device! If you want to know more details, read on.

Everything but speed – Hmmmm, on the one hand the unit is very nice, interface is functional, capabilities are what I was looking for (at least on paper), and the build quality is what I expected (bit on the cheap side but functional). From a build perspective, if you are planning to keep moving drives in and out of the box, I would say this is not for you. However, if you expect to replace drives a half dozen, a dozen times over the lifetime of the box the build is more than adequate but just don’t try to “force” the drive doors. With 3 1/2 inch drive insertion into the carriers does not required tools, but does required you remove a piece from either side of the carrier that snaps into place…first time I inserted a drive into the carrier I thought I broke the carrier, but the carrier is designed to work this way, still was a bit unnerving.

Would be nice if it had full sata 6gb/s speed…. but otherwise flawless product so far. – got this to store my two 16tb hdds. sadly those drives are now sitting on a shelf waiting for me to buy TWO MORE because windows is a PITA. basically my 16tb drives were setup as dynamic (just the way it was) and turns out, windows doesn’t allow dynamic via USB, which is how this little NAS works. so I can’t access my files. thanks windows. not why i docked a point though. docked a point because its only sata 3gb/s. GRANTED, the page itself has been updated since my purchase to state that its only 3gbs. however i have older screenshots and pictures where it clearly states 6gb/s…. including launch documents from 2018 where it claims 6gb/s…. they got away with it because “compatible with 6gb/s” is what they meant. but that marketed it as “4 x 3.5inch sata 6gb/s bays” which they are not…. otherwise we would get 6gb/s speed. still a quality product though, hence only 1 star lost. anyway, once I get my new 16tb drives next year (lmao money am-i-right?) ill have to install them, then copy my files over (take apart my pc, install the hdds into my chassis, copy files, wipe the old drives, then put them back into the enclosure for 4-16tb storage).

– it works. It seems fast enough but the system I was using could not keep up and then the drives slowed down because writing large amounts of data to SMR drives is SLOW… however it appears to be fast enough to keep the USB 3 controller in that laptop busy so maybe it is actually fast enough to keep up with 4 hard drives but I think 4 SSDs would be WAY to fast for this since one SSD can often saturate a USB 3 link all on its own let alone 4 of them… then again these SSDs would probably be SATA drives so not as fast as NVMe but 4 of them would for sure be bottle-necked by USB 3.

– it works.
