Seamless Experience – I live in an apartment with 8 people in total, all have at least a computer/laptop of a sort, phone, and maybe some with a console. With one gig of data and an outdated router, it was a nightmare to even try to browse online. 1MB per second downloads, constant restarting of the router, and just overall instability. Everything changed as soon as I connected the router to our modem and we have not looked back since. Instructions were very clear, seamless, and life-changing. We have had close to 20 devices connected all at once, some playing video games competitively and no hitches yet. The Asus router app was generally easy to work with and self-explanatory. Would highly recommend it for the price we got it for!! ($179.99)

This is a great router – It took awhile to get everything worked out but this is a phenomenal little router. Now is the time to get it as the latest firmware was very recently released and it has a great GUI. I’ve been using a TP-Link AC5400 and there have been no firmware updates since 2019 so I was stuck with an expensive dinosaur. It’s still a tri-band workhorse but I needed something to take advantage of newer technology and it had passed TP-Link’s EOL and support is nonexistent. As far as features go, this and I presume all ASUS routers give you a lot of flexibility and multiple options for firmware. I’d used DD-WRT in the past and ASUS-Merlin is just as feature filled and maintains the ASUS look and feel. I like being able to use much more of my router than I could before and now I can put everything behind a native Wireguard tunnel and it’s been working flawlessly. I’d highly recommend getting this one. Now if I could just get them to let me try one of the ROG or ZEN AiMesh routers out for test drive, that would make my day.

This router is excellent! – As a gamer I need a lot of data transfer speed and this router definitely delivers. The setup was extremely easy. Plug it in and scan the QR code on the back or use the app. I used the app to set up the router. Only took about 10min total for everything. The app has tons of features allows you to configure easily. I love that I have my own network and password even though I’m plugged into the landlords router upstairs kinda piggybacking off his router. Even though I’m piggybacking the speed it not reduced at all. The devices I have connected are all on the first floor bedroom which is about over 600sq ft. I have connected: Ps5, Apple TV, 2 HomePods, iPad, iphone, and my work PC. All running perfectly on the network. I’m so glad I didn’t go cheap! I believe this is a fairly good price for a nice router. I also like the fact that it’s made in Taiwan not China.

Good hardware, but no so good software. 3rd parties options. Overpriced. – The hardware is really good! The chipset onboard of this device is a very powerful and can do a lot. However, the firmware that ASUS provides offers only a fraction of the abilities. There is a third-party firmware provider that addresses most of the issues (Asuswrt-Merlin), but you cannot go this path if you don’t have enough skills. It’s a good choice for DYIers, but regular customers may find it overpriced. There are cheaper models that don’t allow custom firmwares.

This is a good router that is worth the price, nuff said. – As a PC gaming nerdy enthusiast kind of guy I have owned a lot of routers in my day. Mostly all I am looking for is fairly easy set up, and reliable functionality. My old AC router I have had for about 5 years and began to show signs of fatigue, needing things like manual power cord pull resets on a every 4-5 days sort of basis.

Nice master for my ASUS AIMesh system – Just recently upgraded to fiber in the home and wanted to upgrade my AC system to AX to take advantage of the higher wireless speeds offered. I used my old AC routers as AIMesh nodes in my boathouse and garage so now can go most anywhere on the property without losing connectivity. Very happy with this purchase, get close to 700Mbps download speed through my wireless connection. Not bad for my previous 5Mbps DSL I just upgraded.
